Apple Drive Module for XServe

The Apple Drive Module (ADM) is a hot-swappable Ultra ATA/100 (parallel) 250GB, standard  hard drive in a special drive carrier module designed for easy server and RAID upgradeability and maintenance. They operate at 7200 rpms. But when compared to other standard hard drives on the market, it is expensive at around $515.

• It has a burst transfer rate of 100 MBps.
• Apple drive Module has two LED activity lights - one indicating drive activity and one indicating drive status.
• All Apple Drive Modules support SMART (Self Monitoring and Reporting Technology) allowing the hardware monitoring tools included with Xserve (G4 based) and Xserve RAID to monitor the status of each hard drive and report pre-failure warnings before problems occur, which is very helpful.
• This product is compatible only with Xserve RAID and the prior generation, G4-based Xserve.
• It has a 250GB capacity that is larger than the average hard drive on the market today

Since it is a hot swappable hard drive, it is suitable for replacement or upgrade on many desktop PCs or workstations. This feature allows you to trade it out for a replacement while the machine is still running.
